4/4/23: FERRYHAWKS SIGN PAIR OF OUTFIELDERS ADAM PURDy & MITCH PIATNIK
A left-handed hitting outfielder, Purdy has been an above average hitter at all levels he has played at. In a five year college career at Notre Dame College (OH) and Concordia University Ann Arbor he hit just under .300 across the five seasons. After college, Purdy broke into the Pecos League playing for the Colorado Springs Snow Sox in 2021 and Trinidad Triggers in 2022. Across two seasons in the Pecos League he hit a whopping .469 with over 350 at bats!
Selected by Cincinnati Reds in the 2015 MLB Draft, Piatnik has extensive professional experience in both Minor League Baseball and multiple independent leagues. In 2022, the right-handed outfielder hit .300 appearing in 42 total games - 22 for the Billings Mustangs of the Pioneer League and 20 for the Tri-City Valley Cats of the Frontier League.

3/28/23: FERRYHAWKS SIGN PITCHER JIM FULLER
A 35 year old veteran, Fuller has spent the last five seasons in the Atlantic League - the last two being with the York Revolution. Before that, Fuller had a lengthy minor league career that started with him being drafted by the Mets in 2008. The southpaw picked up 19 saves last season for York and brings a strong veteran presence to The FerryHawks clubhouse!
3/28/23: FERRYHAWKS TRADE FOR INFIELDER DEIBINSON ROMERO
Romero was acquired in a trade with the Long Island Ducks after playing with the club for 3 seasons. Signed by the Twins in 2006, he had an extensive minor league career that included some time with Yankees affiliate Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. Romero has also spent time overseas in a number of international leagues.
3/22/23: FERRYHAWKS RESIGN PITCHER VINCENZO AIELLO
Drafted in 2017, Aiello has minor league experience with both the Marlins and White Sox. In 2022 he joined the FerryHawks pitching staff playing a role out of the bullpen down the stretch. Most recently, however, had the honor of joining Team Italy in the 2023 World Baseball Classic! A native Staten Islander, Vincenzo's love of baseball started right here at Mid-Island Little League before playing for Tottenville High School!
3/14/23: FERRYHAWKS RESIGN INFIELDER ANGEL AGUILAR & PITCHER EDDY REYNOSO
Aguilar spent eight Minor League seasons within the Yankees organization - with one season being here on Staten Island. The 26 year old Venezula native reached as high as AA before coming over to the Atlantic League. In 2022, our "Angel of the Infield" was an offensive leader all last season with 14 HRs, 29 doubles, and 58 RBIs as well as being a defensive force. He finished up the 2022 season as the FerryHawks Player of the Year.
A catcher turned pitcher, Reynoso spent time in the Red Sox organization before joining the FerryHawks for the 2022 season. The hard-throwing righty made 43 appearances out of the bullpen in 2022, pitching to a 3.98 ERA. Aside from being a force on the mound, Eddy bring a one-of-a-kind personality to the FerryHawks dugout!
3/7/23: FERRYHAWKS RESIGN CATCHER JUSTIN O'CONNER
Drafted in the first round of the 2010 MLB Draft by the Tampa Bay Rays, O'Conner has extensive experience in the minor leagues. Throughout nine years in the minor leagues, he made it as high as AAA before dealing with injuries. After rehabbing, O'Conner joined The FerryHawks in 2022 becoming a huge asset both at catcher and designated hitter. Welcome back, Justin!
2/28/23: FERRYHAWKS SIGN PITCHER CHRISTIAN ALLEGRETTI & OUTFIELDER MIKEY EDELMAN
New York natives, Christian Allegretti and Mikey Eledman are set to join the 2023 FerryHawks. Allegretti, who attended Xaverian High School in Brooklyn, is a lefty pitcher who most recently played with Aigles de Trois-Rivières of the Frontier League. Edelman, who attended Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Manhattan, is a right handed hitting outfielder who spent time in 2022 with Capitales de Québec of the Frontier League.
2/22/23: FERRYHAWKS SIGN REGGIE HARRIS AS PITCHING COACH
The Staten Island FerryHawks are excited to announce to signing of former 1987 Red Sox first-round pick, Reggie Harris as the second Pitching Coach in team history! Harris spent time with the Red Sox, Athletics, Phillies, Astros, and Brewers, making 86 appearances out of the bullpen in a nine year span. After his playing career, he transitioned into coaching, most recently serving as the pitching coach for the Gastonia Honey Hunters in 2022. Under his guidance, Gastonia led the league in every pitching category!
2/21/23: FERRYHAWKS SIGN RESIGN PITCHER JORDAN SIMPSON
The FerryHawks are proud to welcome back pitcher, Jordan Simpson! Last year he recorded a 3.43 ERA in his 16 appearances, becoming an integral part of the FerryHawks rotation as a starter and out of the bullpen. This Alabama native is returning to the Big Apple and is ready to go!
2/15/23: FERRYHAWKS SIGN PITCHER ANTHONY QUATTROCCHI & INFIELDER JACK ELLIOT
Hailing from Ohio, Jack Elliot spent the last five years in Erie, Pennsylvania playing for Mercyhurst University. He was a start all five years at Mercyhurst before spending the summer of 2022 with the West Virginia Black Bears of the MLB Draft League, hitting .325 in 33 games.
Quattrocchi brings a big arm and some independent ball experience to your FerryHawks pitching staff. The 6'2" righty spent the 2022 season in the Frontier League of Professional Baseball with the New Jersey Jackals, the Lake Erie Crushers, and the Empire State Greys.
2/8/23: FERRYHAWKS SIGN INFIELDER JEFF WEHLER & OUTFIELDER DOMINICK BUCKO
Wehler, who is 24 years old, was a four year starter at Youngstown State before playing a fifth year in his home state at the University of Pittsburgh. He spent the 2022 summer with the Mahoning Valley Scrappers of the MLB Draft League, where he was coached by newly announced FerryHawks manager Homer Bush.
Bucko, also 24 years-old, spent two seasons at Cuyahoga Community College before teaming up with Wehler at Youngstown State. Bucko, unlike Wehler, finished out his college career at Youngstown before teaming back up with him as he also spent the 2022 summer with the Mahoning Valley Scrappers.
Both standing at 6-foot and hailing from Pittsburgh, this duo brings a chemistry (and some of the best hair in the ALPB) to Hawk City!

1/27/23: FERRYHAWKS SIGN INFIELDER LUIS CASTRO
The 27 year old spent time in the Colorado Rockies Farm System before playing with the Gastonia Honey Hunters - a fellow Atlantic League team - in 2022. With Gastonia, the right-handed bat hit .273 with 12 home runs, 49 RBI, and 17 stolen bases. Castro brings versatility to the FerryHawks as he has experience playing first base, second base and third base.
1/23/23: FERRYHAWKS RESIGN OUTFIELDER RICARDO CESPEDES
The Bronx native and former Mets first-rounder returns to Staten Island to continue this baseball career in the Big Apple. Cespedes hit .295 last season and played a stellar centerfield for the FerryHawks! Welcome back, Ricardo!
