FerryHawk bats explode, crush Ducks, 14-3; Real fireworks will happen after tonight’s home game

CENTRAL ISLIP, L.I. -- The Staten Island FerryHawks are hot! They followed up a commanding win in Sunday's game against the then first-place Long Island Ducks with another impressive offensive display and 14-3 win on Monday night at Fairfield Properties Ballpark.

The FerryHawks (19-38) wasted no time taking an early 4-0 lead in the first inning, opening the scoring with Angel Aguilar's RBI single, followed up by a Roldani Baldwin RBI fielder's choice and a two-run single by Delbinson Romero.

That's all the scoring Staten Island starter Ryan Hartman would need, as he held the Ducks (33-26) to just three runs on three hits with three strikeouts and one walk in six strong innings.

The FerryHawks continued the scoring barrage in the third inning, adding three runs on Luis Castro's RBI single, followed by a two-run double to left Romero, which scored Baldwin and Castro.

The onslaught continued in the top of the fourth when Luis Castro lined another RBI single to right field that scored Mikey Edelman. Third Baseman Jack Elliot followed with his 11th home run of the year – a monster three-run blast to right field that scored Baldwin and Castro and gave the FerryHawks a 11-0 lead.

The Ducks strung together a few runs in the bottom of the fifth, scoring three on RBI doubles by Wilson Ramos and Brantley Bell.

Castro (four RBI) launched a two-run homer off of Long Island reliever Kevin Quackenbush in the eighth. It was his seventh long ball of the year, increasing Staten Island's lead to 13-3.

Aguilar capped the scoring in the ninth on his seventh homer of the year, a long solo shot over the centerfield wall.
