Staten Island Native John Esposito Makes FerryHawks Debut On Greenbelters Night

On Thursday night, the Long Island Ducks defeated the Staten Island FerryHawks by a score of 14-1. It was "Greenbelters Night" at the ballpark and the FerryHawks wore special jerseys to help support and raise awareness for the Greenbelt Conservancy!

This one got out of hand quickly as FerryHawks starter Michael Byrne struggled to navigate an experienced Ducks lineup that includes former Met, Reuben Tejada. The Ducks picked up 11 runs through the first 4 innings thanks to 9 hits and 4 walks. In the 5th, a Jack Elliott double drove in Angel Aguilar and put the FerryHawks on the board to make it 11-1. The duo of Aguilar and Elliott led the offense tonight picking up 5 of the 7 FerryHawks hits and accounting for their only run.

The story of the night was John Esposito! The Staten Island native and CSI graduate signed with the FerryHawks and made his professional debut all in one day as he appeared in relief. Esposito had a strong first outing with a final line of 2.2 innings, 2 hits, 1 run, and 1 strikeout.

The FerryHawks open a new series tomorrow when they welcome the Gastonia Honey Hunters to SIUH Community Park. Summer is officially here so join the FerryHawks this Saturday for their "Kick-Off To Summer Party" followed by their first post-game firework show of the season!
