YORK, Pa. -- The Staten Island FerryHawks hit the road on Tuesday night to take on the first-place Revolution at WellSpan Park and lost 9-3.
The Island's pro team has now lost six straight and dropped to 11-22. York, which has won nine straight, improved to 22-13.
FerryHawks ace, New Jersey-native Christian Capuanao, held the Revolution scoreless for the first two innings. Staten Island scored two in the top of the third when Ricardo Cespedes singled in Mikey Edelman and then scored later in the inning on a wild pitch. York struck back in the bottom on the third, scoring two on RBI singles from Jacob Reinsmith and Trey Martin.
York extended the lead to 3-2 in the bottom of the sixth, when Trey Martin singled to left off of Capuano, scoring Drew Mendoza. The Revolution broke open the game in the bottom of the seventh, scoring five earned runs against Staten Island reliever James Pazos, highlighted by a Nellie Rodriguez grand slam.
The FerryHawks and Revolution scored one-run each in the eighth to round out the scoring.
Staten Island takes on the Revolution again on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. for the second game of a three-game series.
