FerryHawks get big win over first-place York, behind Kevin Krause’s first homer

YORK, Pa. -- The Staten Island FerryHawks bats, led by Kevin Krause's first home run on the season, came up big in a 10-7 win over the first-place York Revolution Wednesday night, stopping a six-game losing streak at WellSpan Park.

In fact, the FerryHawks hit three homers in all.

Staten Island second baseman Luis Castro opened the scoring for the visitors in the top of the third inning with a solo homer to right-centerfield. In the next inning, Castro would go deep again, scoring Jack Elliot and giving the FerryHawks a 4-2 lead.

Staten Island would add to that lead in the top of the sixth, scoring five runs and ending the night for York starter Nick Raquet. FerryHawk left-fielder and Tottenville HS star Krause did most of the damage, hitting a long three-run homer.

FerryHawks starter Blake Loubier (1-2) picked up his first win of the season, scattering three earned runs over five innings, striking out three. Staten Island sent four relievers - Anthony Quattrocchi, Vin Aiello, Jim Fuller and Pedro Payano – to the mound over the final four innings to close out the road win. Payno picked up his fourth save of the season.

The FerryHawks (12-22) and Revolution (22-14) meet again Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. for the final and deciding game of the three-game series.
